Those of you that watch the Dubai One free movie channel at 26deg same as QO-100 may have noticed it has disappeared.

After checking my system for issues I found the following:
The channel has changed beams to Badr 8

its now in HD!
same freq. 12130 V
SR now at 30000
FEC 3/4 8PSK DVB-S2

This is not listed on their home page.

its hard to lock on my 1.2 channel master Needs still weather and clear sky's
I will have a go at tweaking the dish when weather improves, winds may have moved it.
needs 8.71db to lock according to Minitiouner

may persuade the wife that we need a bigger dish now hi hi :D

1.2m CM and Bullseye.
I think I've lost about 0.5dB since the winds.

The theoretical minimum MER is 7.9dB. The MT ini file has some corrections: S2_8PSK_adjust etc. As the comment there says, it's only theoretical and probably down to the individual LNB. I patched out the corrections in mine to show the theoretical figure.

I get a much better MER of 9.6dB using a modified LongMynd.

On my Satfinder the MER is around 12dB.

The Minitiouner isn't designed to receive broadcast TV and I had to mess around to set my Winterhill up to provide the right LNB Bias and LO switching which I then verified was correct with the satfinder behind a DC block I could still receive. Not so the Minitiouner Pro2 which can't seem to get a lock.

This is the danger in this sort of posting as it raises expectations in some of dong something the tuner was never intended to do. They then complain it doesn't work when it was never supposed to.

Please can we delete this thread referencing the Minitiouner, it is fine with a broadcast RX, and say no more about it with respect to Minitiouner, Portsdown etc.?

Mike

EDIT BATC Minitiouner works. Just goes to show.

Yes, Minitiouner does work at SR30000, as demonstrated above. If you're not supposed to try it at SR30000, then the Minitioune software wouldn't allow you to put it in.

The WinterHill Receive Commander program is designed to simply change LNB supply and LO settings.

We're experimenters. A lot of what we do falls into the category of 'not designed to'. The FTS4334 is not designed to work at low symbol rates. UMTS amplifiers are not designed to work at 2.4GHz. "Those short wavelengths will be no use for radio communication".

Can we please stop demanding that people should not experiment and post their findings. Can we please stop demanding that 'wrong think' be deleted.

2. Aims and Objectives
(a) To further the interest of its members in all aspects of television and to inform, instruct, co-ordinate and
represent the activities of television enthusiasts.
(b) To promote the advancement and practice of television in all its forms, together with sound, control and
data systems, and any other systems for the transmission or processing of images in any form.

Isn't it a constitutional right to talk about all aspects of TV and to practice TV in all forms
Correct me if I'm out of line

Thanks Brian for confirming you are locking ok on your 1.2 CM dish & bullseye LNB.
Appreciate you taking the time to confirm reception.

Will tinker with the dish when weather allows. Seem to be down on other satellites also.

Best Regards
Terry

It should be roughly the same strength with both of us, even though you're further north.

As Mike noted, I also found that MT ProV2 doesn't seem to like high symbol rates.

BTW, notwithstanding our disagreement above, Mike and I are still on speaking terms.
