MiniTiouner V2.0 Contruction
MiniTiouner V2.0 Contruction
PCB arrived yesterday. Most components fitted already. Is there any reason why I shouldn't fit a Holder for the 74HC10?
Board is of excellent quality. No problems with construction so far. Set the voltage of the DC to DC converter before fitting (3.8V).
Looking forward to installing into my PD4.

Yes you can use a socket. On the V1 it was recommended, but I haven't bothered with the v2s I've built as that device is reliable.

Can anyone tell me where I can source the low ESR 22yF caps for the Minitioune? Do I really have to get them in the USA?

They are not really that critical. In practice any good quality capacitor will do.

Desirable but not critical I'd suggest. Mouser or Digikey are competitive once you get the order over their minimum for free shipping.

Hello Steve,
I have built 4 Minitiouners V2 and a Knucker and have used IC sockets for the 74HC10.
I have not experienced any problems.
I recommend using good quality IC sockets
Wolfgang.

Hello Paul,
Reichelt Electronik Germany (other companies available) have 22µF Low ESR electrolytics on offer.

Good morning Clive and everyone who replied. It was just a bit of reassurance needed!
In the 70's and 80's I made all sorts of stuff using 74 series and cmos 7000 series! You bet that there would be one that was dead somewhere.
I find it no easier today to remove a 14 or 16 pin . . or even a 8 pin device!
Hoping the last components arrive in the post today.

. . . Almost finished my assembling my MiniTiouner. As I purchased the USB Module from the BATC, already programmed, do I still need to connect it to a PC, download the software from the vivadatv.org website, etc etc? I will only be using it with my Portsdown+Langstone.
