Low i2c perfomance

Post by DL5BCA » Sat Jul 25, 2020 11:49 am

Hello,

after I got my MiniTiouner v2.0 up and running again, I ran all the test programs.

What I can see in the test with TestMyMiniTiouner_V2_3 that the I2C performance is not very high.

Does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

Hi Thomas

I've recently fixed the same issue on my Minitioune. Mine was showing a worse performance than yours.

The biggest improvement I got was by putting the USB A connector directly into the USB sockets on the back of the PC. Avoid using any USB hubs. I also found that it needs to use one of the inbuilt USB hubs exclusively. For me the easiest way to make sure there were no other devices on the same hub was to plug it into one of the two USB3.0 blue sockets. That got the I2C performance to 52%.

I then purchased a Lindy Chromo 3m USB2.0 A to Mini B cable and that took the I2C performance up to 83%. I haven't tried to improve on that.

I was surprised that the lead I was using was poor. It was supplied with a Grundig Digta digital dictation system and has ferrite EMI suppressors moulded onto the cable.

I'm not sure what the penalty is for having poor I2C performance. I have been using the Minitioune with the Grundig cable for several years.

Hope that helps

Hi Clive,

thank you for your answer.
I only try a short 30cm long usb cable...

I will also try to put on USB3...

Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have an OLED connected?
