I downloaded the trial version of Crossover 18
and registered on the French DATV site, how long does it take to get the approval so I can download the s/w to see if it will run on
Crossover 18, there is only a limited time before it expires, and other posts regarding geting the s/w indicate ii is a very slow process.

Thanks Steve
Well I guess I can get to the point to see if it will install,
I do know someone locally who has a board , so maybe I could see it it runs on her board.

well it installs,
but it doesn't even start to shut down without a board present.
Glad I didn't get any of the boards to build up, it would have been wasted money.
Maybe in a few years time there will be FOSS

try leandvb, it is linux based and will work with an rtlsdr dongle and likely whatever other sdr you have.
Sorry i cant help much with how to work it but is possible for DVB-S and S2.

Thanks Rob
Its very frustrating when Linux offers so much more that you can do .
An example is the zmodo IP cam I have
It has to IE8 plus plugins to get at the setup for it, but its running linux
Luckily they foolishly left a hardcoded password, so It was an easy telnet hack on port 23
to get in and set the date ect.
I'm sure that many of the commercial sat Rxs that run linux as an internal system can be hacked.
But I cant get any answers from anyone about the sample rate below 1Ms/s .
I cant see it being a hardware problem as its just running slower.
#But I'm stuck with the lack of knowledge on DTV system, thats really gets me miffed
The other problem is those with the knowledge on the whole dont want to share it.
i'll be the queue to be hung drawn and quatered before long on this group
