remoting minitioune

Has anyone tried using ethernet-usb adaptors to extend a MT USB over a LAN?

I need to have MT rx in the garage (dish on the outside) but would like the programme running on the shack PC some 30m away.
The CAT5 cables are already in and I really don't want to run a long length of coax.
I have seen the adaptors used for extending usb webcams but wondered if anyone has gone down this route?
There is not the option of having a pc in the garage and remote desktopping into that.

Any other ideas please?

Ian.

I have seen USB-CAT5 bridges, depends if they are transparent or not. If so it ought to work. Perhaps USB over WiFi?

Alternatives, Run the RF over the CAT-5. Its presumably UTP. Not so good at 2 GHz maybe but it would be OK at VHF. Personally, I would run coax.

I tried it with a Belkin Ethernet to USB hub and it didn't work.
I have used the hub to remotely control / use the ICOM remote software. The Icom connected to the hub via USB then the remote software running on
a remote P.C in the shack. http://g4guo.blogspot.com/2016/12/there ... r-how.html
