TT-1600, Down converter or in line amp

Post by kb3pmr » Tue Dec 31, 2024 8:59 pm

F6DZP,, indicated some time ago that the TT-1600 could run up to 2.6ghz without a down converter. I think my db should be better running on the High Sierra Microwave down converter so thinking I could change over to a 12 Volt 2.6 30db adjustable line amp, I don't know electronics so look for good advice. As my cable is at 100 feet is it possible that I should run both. If that is the case, I would presume that the down converter would stay at the dish and the amp would come on the radio shack closer to the receiver. Is it safe to run them both on the same power source, cable fed, via. the TT-1600. Please check my assumptions and help me keep the smoke in the box. Thank you in advance.
