portsdown enclosure

Post by VK5BI » Sat Dec 23, 2023 3:37 am

I eventually found an ideal enclosure for my portsdown.
The enclosure holds the PI4, pluto, knucker board, minitiouner and a small audio amp.

It is a Hammond enclosure, their p/n is 1456PK4WHBU.
In Australia they were available from both element14 and RS components, however
at that time they both had long lead times on orders for them. I purchased mine
from Digikey.

Hi Wayne,

I am curious, can you point me in the direction of how to configure the PI4, Pluto (or Lime), knucker board, minitiouner (or Pico). I’ve seen lots of either / or but not both.

As you can tell, I am a novice to this.

Thanks,

Neil.

Hi Neil

You should not connect both the Knucker and MiniTiouner (or Pico Tuner) to the Portsdown at the same time. There is currently a USB conflct between the 2, so just connect the USB lead for the one that you want to use.

You can connect both simultaneously to a Ryde.

Hi Neil,

i built up a crude and simple 2 way usb switch. The chip and the adaptor board for it are both available from Farnell. I think my cost
was about $6 aussie for the two. It is not pretty but it works, just a toggle switch switching one pin of the chip between high and low.
The only additional part was the 78L05 regulator. A warning though the chip is only about 3mm square and has 10 pins.

Regards

Wayne
