Is it easy to add a codec to PD4 for H266, maybe for Rx?

I see people are experimenting with this.

We are all waiting to transmit DATV with halve the data ( or go to 4K! )

I'm guessing it is a lot of work for a RasPi Martin?

It's a lot of work for an Intel i9, let alone a Pi :) Although decoding seems pretty unintensive, CPU wise

The Portsdown will never be capable of video encoding for H266 (although it would transmit a TS from a PC doing the encoding).

As for receive, it would need the Raspberry Pi version of VLC to support H266 decoding. If someone could look at whether that is happening, then I could look at upgrading the version of VLC used in the Portsdown receiver (and possibly the Ryde).

Is there even a main PC version of VLC that does native H266 decoding? I was under the imppression all current versions needed an add on of some sort, that in itself needed compiling. I would be very pleased to be told I am wromg though.
