USB Socket on 7" Display

Post by G4MJW » Sun Apr 02, 2023 11:39 am

I'm just starting to box up my Portsdown 4. Trying hard not to needing a USB Hub, I'd remembered that the Official 7" Raspi Display has a USB connector on it. Is this usable for data to the Pi (and the PD4 Software) or only for 5V supply?

Hi Steve

That socket only works for supply to the screen, not data.

Hi Dave, many thanks for the info. Pity!

My PD4 like many uses all four USB Ports. Pluto, Minitioune, Sound dongle and Rotary Encoder (Langstone). The Pi Camera is not good in my poorly lit attic shack. I'll try to improve it with some additional lighting otherwise I'll try an external camera on a USB hub.

Thanks again

Steve
