Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hello Martin, thank you for all the info.
St. Cleer is 700ft asl but the land rises further to just over 1,000ft at the top of Caradon Hill where the 760ft TV mast, plus GB3CH and GB3JL are located. However, I'm cut off to the north by Caradon and towards the west/southwest the fact that I'm in a bit of a dip with a row of houses plus church cutting me off from getting a good signal from GB3NC! NC has just some smooth noise most of the time. Some days quite noisy, a few days almost noise free. However, I'm planning making a 40ft crank-up/tilt-over Aluminium mast, starting shortly.
My Portsdown is a a standstill atm as there seems to be no output on TX. It was working OK when the beginnings of it's like was in a Langstone transceiver. After steeling if for the P4, I updated the firmware to 0.33 and then F5OEO firmware https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Adalm_Pluto. It may or may not be when it stopped transmitting??? I need to sort this out first before doing anything else with my Portsdown.
Sounds like you have a good DATV setup and hopefully we'll be able to make contact by this mode in the near future.

0303 ? I think that's your problem. See the Wiki for the supported firmware version

Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hi Steve,
When you get your system working try 146.5MHz 333kSR input to GB3NQ vertically polarized, and look for the 1318MHz 333kSR test output when it is on. One of the things GB3NQ is trying is to increase the range of it's useable range besides being HD. DBV-T will also be tried in the future...

Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hi Martin,
146.500 would be good as the X-7000 or ? the biggest highest gain Diamond collinear aerial abt 16ft long, currently on a 15ft pole will go up at 40+ ft soon . . . 'ish. I have seen streams from GB3NQ. I have a linear amp based on a pair of MRF300's . . . But like so many things around here, only part built!

Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hello Mike,
Thanks for Yr message about firmware vers: 0.33. I just did everything as in this link: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Adalm_Pluto
So, which version do I need? Do I have to redo the F50EO firmware as well?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hi Steve, I said 0303 which is F5OEOs version from 3rd March 2021, not 0.33 which is an AD designation, but you should only use the firmware linked to in the Wiki, that is https://wiki.batc.org.uk/File:FIRM2101RC.zip
Remember the Portsdown won't transmit if you have the wrong hardware so make sure you have the correct audio dongle and correct camera. If in doubt, try the test card, it should work. You do have the audio dongle plugged in don't you as you don't mention it above?

Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hi Mike . . . I just checked the Pluto firmware version in menue 3, Pluto settings and it's: Firmware version v0.31-4-g9ceb-dirty. I have the usual white USB Sound dongle which worked with the Langstone but no camera connected atm. I have been using the source as: Testcard and when I touch the TX on the main screen, the button goes RED and the test card with my callsign on it. Does not appear to be any output power regardless of what frequency I enter on it.

Re: Portsdown 4 Camera?
Hi All,
Although it has been connected all the time, I've just found out that my USB Sound Dongle to have failed. Was working with the Lanstone software but no longer!
Brings me back to "Which Camera". If the Logitech C920 doubles as a microphone (Stereo, even) then it will save another USB Port? Camera and Mic combined!
Seems to be the way to go.

The Langstone only works with the USB audio dongle.
Portsdown will work with the C920 or the USB dongle.
