Two question for Ports 4

Post by IK0YYY » Tue May 10, 2022 11:26 am

Hi, two questions to ask:

1) on the Ports 4 firmware, in the reception part, I find the possibility to put/remove voltage on the F connector for eventual LNB; there is even a command for 18 Vol/horizontal. However, the command is not active. Is there a procedure to do to make it available or is it just a possible next upgrade?

2) is there a possibility to find a point (probably in the Raspberrry) to display (with voltage or other) the PTT status ?

Thanks to all, Luca IK0YY, Rome.

Hi Luca,

Pin 40 of the GPIO is PTT indicator on Portsdown, I'm afraid I can't help with the other question as both my Minitiouners are connected to Rydes.

73 Dave.
...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...

Thanks Dave,

on pin 40 directly on Raspberry I have always 3.3 Volt (RX and TX) !

Thank you for your reply.

Hi Luca

Pin 40 on the Raspberry Pi GPIO connector is set high when the Portsdown is set to transmit (after the LimeSDR calibration if using a LimeSDR), and goes low again at the end of the transmission.

Portsdown sends the LNB Voltage command to the LongMynd receive software. However, the MiniTiouner needs add-on hardware to provide the voltage. More details can be found at the bottom of this Wiki page: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Serit_LNB_DC_supply
