HDMI input on the Portsdown
Is it possible to use a HDMI to CSI-2 interface on the Portsdown instead of the PI-camera?
These interfaces are available with a Toshiba TC358743 chip and for a reasonable price. Or is there another way to apply HDMI to the Portsdown?

I know Dave G8GKQ has looked into HDMI input and not come up with a solution.

He has probably answered such questions on the forum before so worth doing a search for answers.

He's not going to be answering as he is away on much deserved holiday for the next 10 days so it would be good if others could share the load and take a look into it. :-)

Thanks for your reply.
It is a real challenge to get a video signal in the Portsdown. The SD video input needs a USB video grabber with the very obsolete UTV007 chip. I tried to find one, but no luck. For HDMI I found some posts about the LKV373a version3 interface which is also obsolete and very hard to find.
This degrades the Portsdown to a luxe testcard transmitter for those who do not want to stream IPTS from a PC. Any idea to apply composite video and/or HDMI video would be highly appreciated.

Hi Rob
I am a newbie in to DATV but I have just discovered OBS.
It is run on a windows OS (I use W7 with an i7 processor)
Video is then sent to the portsdown over IPTS.
So far I have a video playing (MP4) with text inserted at the top with my callsign etc.

Hope that helps

Hi rob,

Have played with this issue last year and paid a lot for a HDMi to CSI-2 converter.
It works but far from flawless.. and still audio is an issue with should be posible but i never got it to work.

So to save money i would go for iptv. either with PC and porgrams like OBS or and HDMI to IPTV streamer like Linkpi or so...
I have both and they work every time,,,

I still have the HDMI to CSI-2 in my junkbox so if you feel lucky....

Hi Benno,

Thanks for your answer. I tried with OBS-and F1EJP freestreamcoder. These programs work fine on my PC and I can check the output with VLC.
But I can't control the Pluto anymore with the control-page (F5OEO software 2101) The pluto does not transmit anything. It works fine with DATV-Express and in my Portsdown DATV transceiver. It also works with an external HDMI encoder (ON-DMI-16)

You have probably run into the same issue I had with my Pluto. To cut a long story short, I resolved the problem by installing the latest version of firmware for the Pluto, followed by installing the version linked in the WiKi https://wiki.batc.org.uk/File:FIRM2101RC.zip.

It seems that using the external H265 HDMI encoder changed a setting that upset things whilst I was trying it out.
