I built a Portsdown 4 and it seems to work great but I have two questions

I purchased an Easycap via Amazon but it is hard to find the right type
This one gives a great picture on the vidmon button of Portsdown but on tx I just get a black screen.
When I command lusb via ssh it says
003 ID0403;6010 Future Development International Ltd FT 2232C/D/H UART/FIFO IC
So no USBTV007
It is strange the picture is perfect on vidmon
Any clues ?

I am also trying to read the udp stream by VLC on a PC on ethernet but no go
In VLC I enter IP 192.168.2.184 and port 1234, but the PC cannot find this stream.
Am I overlooking something.

Hi Jack

The Video Monitor uses different software to the transmit encoder. It is more tolerant of different devices. So unfortunately, you are going to need to look for the Fushicai USBTV007 for transmit.

You need to set your PC's address in Menu 3, TS IP Config, Edit TS Out IP Address. The default output port is for Portsdown 10000, not 1234, although you can change this in Menu 3, TS IP Config, Edit TS Out IP Port. Once you have done that, you should enter

Code: Select all

udp://@:10000
in VLC to view the stream. Be aware that some Windows firewalls block this port.

There is a more complete discussion of this topic in my article on page 14/15 of CQ-TV 268.
