No decode displayed

Hopefully a it's just finger trouble on my side, but.....

Pi 4, 7" screen, minituner.
Portsdown latest FW 20210109 ? Just updated.
Other than doing updates and setting the wifi up, it's only had sone settings changed (via the GUI) to do some testcard TX tests and feed the BATC streamer.
Now is my first time trying to use the portsdown on RX.

Set up on QO100 beacon, when going into RX, I get the MER showing about 9dB, the freq and rates are displayed, along with the decoded stream ID etc.
But no video displayed. Tried all three decoders.
I am assuming that it should display the video on the 7" screen?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Sometimes the beacon is faulty. It's OK now, I just checked it. Try again and only with the ffmpeg decoder.

Just re-tried Mike. Nothing.
I've been trying in on and off for a couple of weeks. With no success.
I did note that I do get some random tweaks and squeaks from the headphones plugged into the Pi audio jack.
The display still blank, once the OSD times out.

Other than the rate, frequency and the S2 settings, I assume the rest is auto detected. Such as FEC ?

Hi Jules

Can you confirm that the MiniTiouner has been used successflully with a PC?

For viewing on the Portsdown, always use "Play with ffmpeg VLC"; that's the only one that works with the beacon. I'll be removing the other buttons soon.

When viewing the beacon parameters, does it show A71A and QARS? You can re-show the parameters by touching the the top left quadrant of the screen (they should toggle on and off).

If the answer is yes, try sending the TS by UDP to a PC and viewing it with VLC. Go to the Portsdown receive config screen and give it the (UDP) IP of your PC. Leave the port on the default of 1234. Then select "Play to UDP Stream" and open VLC on your PC. Then select Media, Open Network Stream, and enter udp://@:1234 then play. Do you see the beacon video?

If so, it would appear to be a broken VLC installation on your Portsdown. Let me know and I can send you instructions to fix it.

Dave,

Yes I get A71A and QARS displayed.
But no video stream.
Tried the udp/vlc, still nothing.

And retested that minituner with a pc and the scanandtune. I see the stream on there fine.

I reimaged the SD card with the OS and reinstalled the portsdown.
As per the instructions at github.com/BritishAmateurTelevisionClub/portsdown4
But still no video stream.

Bit of an update....

Looks like the minituner->pi is a bit sensitive about the USB.
Changed the USB lead, bypass the hub and the chassis mount USB . And things started improving as I went.
A bit of a suprise. I'd assumed USB would just work, or not.

Back when I built a Portsdown 2108 and a Minitiouner, the advice then was for a specific and expensive USB lead. I only use it for my MT and so far, so good. There is quite a lot of data going through it so I imagine that 'bit leakage' is critical....
