I cannot get my Portsdown 4 to stream with any settings other than the most basic ones at boot up, seen in the image below.
Am I doing something wrong and how do I fix it?

Andy

What are you trying to stream that does not work?

No matter which one of the presets I hit nor what settings I put in as modulation, encoder, format, symbol rate, or anything else other than what is shown it does not work.. It will show that it is running but when I try to open the streamer there is no stream, it shows as inactive.

Hi Andy

It is designed to stream useful stuff at a fixed bit rate and encoding. So, the available input options are Test Card, Pi Cam or Comp Video (some webcams might work as well).

The bitrate is fixed at about 600 kbs, and the encoding is H264.

Try with Test Card as a source - but make sure that you have the correct stream key (in lower case) entered.

Andy

Sorry - I see your stream key has some upper case as well!

Dave,
So I am assuming that no matter which one of the format presets I choose the stream will still be at 600 KPS h264, is that correct?
I have tried picam, C920 webcam, easycap and test card at the presets other than the one it boots to and it will not show as a stream on the website.
I have also tried adjusting the encoding and the symbol rate on the m1 screen but it makes no difference.

Yes, the streaming server is designed to accept H264. MPEG-2 would be poorer quality and is not technically possible anyway.

The stream bandwidth (bitrate) was chosen as a compromise setting for SD quality and ADSL connections. You can edit it in rpidatv/scripts/a.sh.

If you want to do anything more advanced, it's better to use OBS or vMix, both of which can stream directly to BATC. Or you can home-brew a command line for ffmpeg.

Okay so my understanding now is that I can only stream from the most basic setting at boot as long as I do not change presets etc. Is that correct?

Part of my reason for working so hard on this right now is that I am trying to put together the parts to build a virtual repeater.. four raspberry pis as stream receivers feeding a quadviewer which will then go back out via a Portsdown to the stream. Being able to stream out at SD16.9 or at least 720 would make it much more usable.
