New LimeNET micro arrived!!

Post by g8nop » Sun Mar 01, 2020 1:17 pm

My beloved partner has given me a LimeNET micro, beautifully cased and I am really happy, especially having read what Dave has written about it.
My problem now is, what to do with it. (Portsdown, of course!) I plugged a new SD card into it but, now I read that the installed RPi compute module doesn't recognize the SD slot and the 7" touch display until the software is installed in RAM. Further, I can't SSH into the unit with "Pi" and "Raspberry".
Basically, I need more information than I can find at the moment on forums. Does anybody know more?

The compute module has it's own flash, you select what you use with a jumper. It should be easy to install raspian etc

Thanks for the info Mike. A little further on now but, I'm getting:-

[34.373636] new mount options do not match the existing superblock, will be ignored
[60.661683] usb 1-1.5: reset high-speed USB device number 6 using dwc_otg

power supply has plenty of oomph and is fed via barrel connector

Sorry if this is a pain but Lime microsystems don't seem to know a lot about Portsdown.

Hi Pip

I can't be as much help as I would like to be, as my LimeNET Micro is one of the pre-production versions which uses an external SD Card.

However, what you need to do is to get to the stage where you have Raspbian Buster Lite installed on the CM3+ and can log in over ssh. Lime Microsystems will understand this.

Once you reach this stage, you can then run the normal install routine for the Portsdown as detailed here: https://github.com/BritishAmateurTelevi ... er-version

I would suggest that you use Buster (rather than Stretch) as all new developments in the Portsdown are now targetted to that build.

Hope that makes things clearer for you

Thanks for the help anyway Dave. Still no joy I'm afraid! No matter what configuration of jumpers and SD cards, I still get the same result. So frustrating.
Tantalizingly close to the initial startup from where I could progress but, a mile from where I want to be.

Hi Pip

Mike G0MJW reprogrammed his LimeNET Micro today with the new Portsdown Buster software and has provided some instructions which I have put on the Wiki: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Portsdown_with ... eMMC_Flash

I think it maybe the step to delete the existing partitions that you may be missing.

Hi and thanks for the reply,
Unfortunately, I have been in and out of hospital since the beginning of "Lockdown" and had to put everything on hold. I will checkout the link to the Wiki as soon as I'm fit. It should be a simple startup procedure I hope.
Cheers, Pip G8NOP
