comp video output

Post by m1cdq » Mon Jan 06, 2020 4:18 pm

I have managed to sus out comp video output. So i can output comp video for analog 5.6ghz
But if i select output to comp vid and input IPTS in it does not work.
it goes to composite video output menu(4)
wiht choices of picam, Contest, TCAnim, Testcard,Snap
so it looks like i cannot use iptsin to ouput comp

Comp Video output simply replays the camera or any image sent to the framebuffer.

For IPTS in, the digital video is routed straight to the modulator software and never decoded, so is not available for display (and hence video output).

You could write your own application to do it; I think that omxplayer could possibly display the IPTS in given the correct parameters, but it all depends on your video source.

Im baffled. ( not unusal as it happens every day )
I saw that composite video was available when using element 14 7" screen. I thought great, i can display the repeater streams using my Portsdown on one of the monitors I have in a group of 4. It will make a nice addition when displaying my testcard on one. GB3TT beacon on another, GB3EY repeater on another and Whatever I want off the Portsdown repeater stream. Was I expecting something that's not possible ? ( oops my wife came to mind for a moment ). I digress !
So, on hooking up video OUT from the "shaft" of the 4 pole socket. together with ground ring 2. I was expecting to see streaming video on my large monitor. Alas NO, I get 5 lovely colours towards each corner of the monitor. 2 shades of blue and a magenta , green and a yellow.
I tried a different lead i made up before that i know works on my other setup with a small waveshare screen and that lead produces same result.
I tried "source" as my testcard and "output to" Comp Vid but still no luck.
By the way. Sound is working OK from the same lead. Comes out of the little speaker on front of case in photo.

Maybe I'm expecting it to do something it won't. or not using the menu's correctly. Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks Ken

Ken

The reason for having to positively select it is that I did not want the process that duplicates the screen image running all the time (when other displays are being used). Not sure if it would stop something else working.

M1CDQ - thanks for supplying the answer!
