Switching Pi From H262 to H264

I'm looking for a way to Switch a Portsdown Pi From H262 to H264, could a pin be brought out to take from HI to Lo?
This would be in a remote setting over 4G and GSM remote switching, as broadband network not available,
private IP addresses on Sim Cards useless, fixed Ip Sims too costly at the present.

If we can switch repeater video codec to accomodate both then H264 can be demonstrated and promoted.

My first choice is Datv-Express and stand alone Portsdown Pi I have used for some time.

And the answer....

After a long drive yesterday. For at least the Datv-Express "scenario", two raspberry pi, why not?

A relay driven shutdown restart system, stopping Pi in the correct way and starting it's companion.

Haven't tried yet, possible blocking of usb 5v may me needed somewhere in the routine.

But beats loging into menu layers remotely, one quick phone call to a CL4-GSM (remember no broadband) and your done.

Mpeg-2 to H264 output of a repeater with a text, or remote relay if you have broadband on site.

Hi Peter

Sounds a good solution. Sorry, I was thinking about the remote switching, but it is not that easy.

Hi Dave,

Ok on remote switching, all understood, just ordered a brace of Pi's, and will give it a go.
