any recommendations for a case to use with a 7" display.
I have printed off a bezel for my display. just getting all the bits together for a build of portsdown.
most of the enclosures I have seen pics of are using the 3" touch screen.
so any pics/ suggestions for a enclosure for my portsdown that will have the 7" touch screen
Cheers M1CDQ

Hello,
I used the RS 754-5998 which is now discontinued, but the RS 754-6008 is available which is the same but 101mm deeper, which may have been a better choice as more room front to back.

Thanks for the pics, Nick (and for the question, M1CDQ) - the build looks great
I'm currently considering building mine into a 3u rack-mount case ('card-frame' type with removable/hinged front panel) which I'm about to 'salvage' from a dead unit at work (fortunately, there are very few existing holes in the front panel, and I think the majority of them are in the area that I'll end up chopping out for the display, anyway...
I had a lovely 'instrument case' which I have fitted the 3.5" Portsdown into, which I was hoping could be modified to take the taller display panel. but sadly it's a non-starter. I guess my 2.5" Portsdown 2018 will have to live on

just order the RS 754-6008 case. Its out of stock so its on back order. its going to take me a few months to build it. got to get a few things in stock as well like pcb stand off, sma's , wire, led, get some more dc 2dc buck converters. pcb boards etc. once a have a few things together i will be posting my build progress on here
just for to find my sodding dremel. I think the wife has borrowed it.
from what i have been reading up. you can also get it to control a minitioune for the rx. so i may well build a 2nd minitioune to also fit inside. this will be a part 2 of the project.

Just to add another option. I used one of the cheaper, Chinese blue boxes. Outer Size: 305 x 282 x 122mm/12 x 11.1 x 4.8inch(L*W*H).
The 7 inch screen fits nicely on the front. I replaced the steel panels that came with the box for 3D printer ones. The steel ones are too difficult for me to cut .

Im been cheeky do you have the stl for the front panel mount for the screen. As i printed one of thingivers for the rs one which does not fit this case as the edges of the screen go right to the edge like yours

Hi, I used a display stands, cut it to length to mount the screen into the box. I tried a couple and the one in the link gave good support without bending. It needs slightly longer mounting screws, and I had to glue the brackets in place to stop the screen moving sideways.
