Portsdown Software Update 201910230

Post by G8GKQ » Fri Nov 01, 2019 6:39 pm

I have just released an update to the Portsdown software which significantly improves the useability of the LongMynd receiver. Thanks to Phil M0DNY it now displays: Modulation Mode, FEC, Program Name, Service Provider, Audio and video encoding types, and (for DVB-S2 only) MER.

There is also an enormous Beacon MER display to aid with dish alignment. If you are using a 3.5 inch touchscreen, this is accompanied by an audio alignment tone (on the RPi 3.5mm audio/video jack). The tone is not yet working with the 7 inch screen (another RPi mystery....).

This release also reinstates FreqShow, which disappeared from new builds in the last release. Updates will not have been affected.

Hello:

I am trying to update Portsdown 2019 connects me with Google but not with Github.
If I connect to the PC it says "This URL has been blocked by provision of of the Judicial Authority".
Should I do it as indicated in WIKI-BAT with Virgin Media (or Telstra in Australia)?

Hi Dave
I am trying to update to this version, but when I cut and paste the lines:
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Briti ... install.sh
chmod + x install.sh
./install.sh

It seems that several errors occur, such as:
BUG: The certificate of ‘raw.githubusercontent.com’ is not trusted.
BUG: The certificate of ‘raw.githubusercontent.com’ hasn't got a known issuer.

and I do not know why.
I don't get what Jaume EA3NE says.
Anyone else has happened?

Following the explanations of BATC Wiki about the ISP blocking I have already updated PD.
It cost me because when I restarted PD I didn't change the connection to the Router.

Magi

I am confused. Are you trying to update an existing Portsdown, or build a new SD Card?

You only need the commands that you quote if you are building a new card. If you are updatying an existing card you can do it from the touchscreen or console.

It could be a problem with your Internet Provider looking up the certificates in the wrong place. I have just checked, and the certificate for https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Briti ... install.sh is valed until 13/05/2020.

What happens when you try to go to that address with your PC? You should see the install file in your browser.

Sometimes - especially when on Wifi, you find systems that require a log in, it's called a captive portal and this causes problems as the wrong certificate is returned. That does not normally happen at home but make sure the system is not trying to access some Wifi provider rather than your home network.

There is also this https://developers.slashdot.org/story/1 ... s-organize for those fortunate enough to live in Spain.

Yes. I was trying to make a new SD card for a friend, because he also tried and had the same mistakes.
I am not using wifi, I am doing it from my home network with direct connection to the router ... as always.
I will review the entire process, see if I have something wrong.
Thank you Dave and Mike
