Portsdown Software Update 201907270

Post by G8GKQ » Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:12 pm

I have just released a new software update that improves usability and fixes some minor bugs.

I recommend that everybody loads this update EXCEPT any 3.5 inch screen users who upgraded to 201907070. There have been major problems due to a Raspberry Pi software update issued on 11 July, and those users should not upgrade again until the Raspberry Pi team have resolved the issue.

So, if you have a 7 inch screen, a LimeNet Micro or haven't upgraded for a while, this is the update for you. Detailed features:
  • Audio out enabled on LimeNET Micro
  • Allow 33KS TX selection
  • Handle DVB-S2 FECs better
  • Allow 16:9 Comp Vid H264 transmissions from EasyCap with C920 connected
There is also a lot of new code included to allow the Portsdown receiver to work in the future, but it is still not quite finished.

This is likely to be the last update for a few months, as I am moving house and that will have to take priority! Please report any new bugs here - I will attempt to answer when I have time.

Dave

Is it safe to update a 3.5" screen version with the latest release that was not previously updated with the 201907070 release?

Your post seems to imply that it is but I thought it would be prudent to check first!

Thanks Dave.
Now it updates well from the 201906060 with my Tontec 3.5 screen.

Thanks for letting me know Alain.

A new build should also work for you if needed.

No is is not possible. How come people keep asking this multiple times?

Mike

PS - No, it is not possible. However you can use DATV Express.

Hi Dave
My SD card corrupted for some reason and need to do a new build.
Is it OK to go through the existing Github procedure for installing new software or will I have any problems with your earlier comments. I know it relates to the 201907070 that I had, but just want to be sure before I start.
BTW, I had not updated the 201907070 version as you instructed before the card died.
