Separate attenuator for Portsdown sig gen?

Post by radiogareth » Thu Nov 08, 2018 5:36 pm

I'm trying to optimise the layout of my portsdown package to minimise cable bundles and RF loss etc. Having used the signal generator as a REALLY HANDY TEST SOURCE I think it would be equally nice to have the attenuation electronically controlled, certainly within the bounds of the PE4302 board. I already have one of these attenuators wired in and working for setting power levels. Can (should) I run a second unit in parallel but plumbed in to the other output on the ADF435X board, or what?

Suggestions and guidance welcome :-)

Having perused https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Output_Attenua ... onnections again, its clear that there is really no need to worry about doing this, either use the 23cms port or the relevant band selected determined by the operating frequency. It sounds entirely adequate as-is :-) (RTFM I guess).
