RTL-FM Receiver

Post by G4CPE » Sat Aug 25, 2018 2:35 pm

Can anyone confirm that the RTL-FM receiver works on NBFM on 2m or 70cms. Mine will receive and play strong WBFM broadcast but nothing at all on
2m or 70cms. The Freq Show Spectrum display is very good and displays weak signals well on 2m and 70cms.but even strong local signals cannot be heard on the receiver.

Same here Arthur, only Band 2 and quite deaf at that. I thought it was my RTL dongle.

...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...

Arthur, Dave

Thanks for pointing this out. Looking at the code, it appears that I have omitted setting the gain parameter when starting the receiver. The documentation does not say what the default is, but I would not be surprised if it is 0 on a scale of 0-50 (approx dB).

I'll put it on the to-do list to be fixed!

Hi Dave

Thanks for the reply, I had thought it was a gain setting issue. The device is very good in spectrum display mode.

We are off to MK rally this morning but we may get wet.
