Transmitting transport stream file.
Transmitting transport stream file.
Searched the forum, but couldn't find an answer.
I see there is an option to select TSfile from the encoder tab on menu 1.
Is it possible to transmit a transport stream file with the Portsdown?
If yes, where do I put the file, how do I select and transmit it?
Thanks n 73
Dave.

Re: Transmitting transport stream file.
Hi Dave
You clearly didn't try to select transmitting a TS file, as the next question it asks you is "where is the file?". By preference it should be in /home/pi/rpidatv/video/. I have successfully transmitted files recorded by MiniTiouner.
Please let me know if it still works.

Re: Transmitting transport stream file.
Hi Dave,
I did try selecting TS file in the encoder box on M1, as that's the only place I saw mention of TS file!
It didn't ask me the location (it never has).
It just gave me the options to select H264/Mpeg/IP TS and TS file.
Is that where I select to TX a TS file?
I'm running 201805151 firmware.
Tried putting a TS file in that folder you mention as it's where I put my pictures for the TC animation to use, but it does not send it.
Is it because I've the "old" PI and old OS?
Cheers
Dave.

Hi Dave,
The easiest way to set this up is via SSH. It looks to me like you are trying to do it via the touch screen.

Hi Dave
My apologies - I misread your post and assumed that your were controlling your Portsdown from the console on a PC over ssh, not from the touchscreen.
As Mike says, you need to select TSFILE as the input mode on the console and it will then ask you to select the file. I note that the default filename is not useful at the moment. I will change it to tsfile.ts for new builds as part of the next update.
Once selected from the console, I think that the same file will be used when you try the touchscreen button.

Re: Transmitting transport stream file.
Thanks Mike and Dave,
Yes the console mode works and asks for a file name and the TS file entered is indeed the one sent from the touch screen.
There are so many options hiding below other options that I missed that one!
Now I'm going to have a look at ALL the options for each option when I select an option from one of the options(!)
Thanks n 73

Re: Transmitting transport stream file.
Hi Dave
Pleased that you have it working.
As the touchscreen has more capability added to it, I am not maintaining full (new) capability on the console. A lot of the new capabilities will only work on the touchscreen. However, some of the older ones only work on the console....
I am trying to migrate as much as possible to the touchscreen, but have not designed a file selection gui yet, which is the issue with TSFILE input.
