26 Way extension basic question

Post by G1BVI » Sat Apr 28, 2018 10:43 am

Hi All
To connect the GPIO extender card to the LCD a 26way extender cable is required.
I could not see one on the hardware list but sourced one.

https://wiki.batc.org.uk/DATV_Equipment_Shopping_List

When I push the IDC socket end on to the 40 pin plug on the GPIO board the adjacent pin is displaced.
What do constructors do.
a Cut off all remaining pins
b Use a 40 pin extension to LCD display
c Do not have this problem as you have used a smaller profile 26way extension

Thanks in advance

I used a 40-way for mine - but that was mainly because I couldn't see a 26-way from the place I was ordering other stuff from, and I didn't want to put another order in just for a 26-way cable.

I chose option (a) and cut off the ends of the other pins.

I used a 26 way cable and cut off the little latch that holds the two halves of the connector together. A small dab of glue and the two GPIO pins now locate in the space left by the locking tab.

...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...
