USB Audio Dongle

Post by Nick » Mon Apr 09, 2018 8:45 pm

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a USB audio dongle and microphone combination suitable for use when the PI camera is being used ?

There is a large selection available on ebay - I don't want to get a unsuitable one.

Regards,

Hi Nick

I have bought 3 of these dongles from different eBay sellers.

All worked fine. Any cheap computer mic (with the powered insert) will work with them.

I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem

On My setup: Received and streamed sound would come out of the audio dongle but the RTL-FM Receiver would only use the Pi’s internal sound card.

After a couple of weeks of head scratching, and searching the net. the problem was a misspelling in the aliases.conf file.

Us PuTTY to exit the Portsdown menu and type. "sudo nano /lib/modprobe.d/aliases.conf" (Don’t include the speech marks.)

Find “options snd-usb-audio” and change it to “options snd_usb_audio”

Save and Exit

Type - sudo reboot now

After a reboot, everything now uses either the Pi sound or the sound dongle if it is plugged in.
