Portsdown Repeater

Hi,

I´m building a portsdown repeater project.

So i´m fighting with two questions:

First: How can i change ip adress from dhcp to fixed one?
Secont: Is it possible to, in case of power failure, autostart raspberry in transmission mode?

Thanks a lot,

Hi Sergio

Really interested to hear about your repeater project.

I have not tried fixed IP, but I see no reason why it should not work. If you google the problem, the answer in out there. I've seen it, but can't remember where and haven't tried it. Make the changes after the Portsdown installation, and make sure that the answer applies to Raspbian Jessie, not Raspbian Stretch.

The second question I can answer. There are 2 ways to do what you want:

1. You can set the Portsdown to "Boot to Transmit" (TX_boot) in the Autostart Menu of the console (on this Wiki Page https://wiki.batc.tv/Console_mode.

2. Or you can set up hardware keyed transmit as described here https://wiki.batc.tv/Hardware-only_Transmit_Switching. You will also need to set up "Boot up to GPIO Keyed Transmitter" (Keyed_TX_boot) in the Autostart Menu.

Please keep us informed of your progress; I hope that your repeater will be the first of many Portsdown Repeaters.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks a lot for your quick answer!

So i´ll search about raspberry linux ip settings change, and i´ll try your solution.
Last week i changed definitions in console, but without success... something like autostart mode.

So i´ll try 3v3 on gpio pin.
but first of all a new fresh installation.

My settup to datv 1.2ghz:

Analog receiver with video detector
Digital receiver (i´m looking for one rx with sync led) and i´ll solder a bc54x type transistor between led and relay.
Auxiliar patern generator with a base time, 5 min off 2 min on.
And... raspberry pi + BATC Modulator :D
Power Ampli: Modulator, about 8dbm , m67715 22dbm, and the most popular brick.... M57762, about 38dbm

Sergio,

I also wanted to fix the IP address of the PI but went about it slightly differently.

I set my router to always assign a certain IP address to my PI.

All I needed was to find the MAC address of the PI and put this into the router's DHCP reserved address list.

See the last block on the attached picture - my PI is .73 !

Use
ifconfig

from the putty software to find the MAC address, or look around your router when it is connected to the PI.

You could also look at

Hope that helps

Hi Dave,

Thanks for reply.

I must do other way.
The raspberry will work alone, with no router, so when it starts will not receive dhcp and no ip.

I don´t want to leave a router just for raspberry in the repeater.

I´ll search on google how to change dhcp settings on system and post here how to do.

Thanks for all.

I made this two points, but when i shot down the power, the definitions are gone...
Last week i tried several times boot to transmit, but without success.
