Hi
New to forum and I can't find an answer to this:-
I am building the Portsdown but before boxing it up would like to test it in ugly mode.
What is the minimum number of modules I need to connect up to test the system? i.e. the RPi + breakout board + LED Screen + ADF4355? is what I am thinking is needed.
Thoughts please?
Thanks
Steve

Absolute minimum would be a Pi with programmed SD card and a network connection to a computer running putty.

It needs a little more - you have to connect the output pin to the receiver input. You will need a DC blocking capacitor for that - small 10pF ceramic say. I would not attach it to an aerial because you would be radiating out of band.

I found my Minitiouner sensitive enough to receive the signal direct from the Pi, the only aerial being a 6" piece of wire in the Minitiouner F socket, nothing on the Pi...

Hi
Thanks all for the help - TX working! I just used my RPI and led and then ran the tx in ugly mode- Received across shack on the minitioune with a small piece of wire. 100% signal!
So now to continue building some more modules.
