Suitable Enclosures
Suitable Enclosures
I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any reference on the forum to possible enclosures for the Portsdown project.
Having read a lot about the various modules involved, I can see some merit in a non metallic case, but obviously screening would suffer.
Has anyone, with experience of the build, any particular recommendations?

Re: Suitable Enclosures
I really can't say I've experience as I'm only part way through my build but the case I'm using is on ebay item number 152526672072, I can't vouch for suitability but I'm pretty sure everything including the easycap is going to fit. I'll post updates!

...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...

Re: Suitable Enclosures
There is a thread on the facebook site with photos of what others have used. I used a Farnell box, same as Colin G4KLB but with a different layout 1526706 G752A CASE, ABS, ALU PANEL, 245X175X90MM
Re: Suitable Enclosures
Thanks Guys, It's good to know that so many people are building the Portsdown. I just hope that a few folks close to me are on the air in deepest Derbyshire for qsos when it's built.
Re: Suitable Enclosures
If it's any help, I'm using an old re-purposed 18" 2u rack enclosure.
It's a bit big but holds everything nicely with plenty of room for extras. There is space on the rear panel easily for 4 N-Type connectors (one for each band). Being 2U there is space on the front for the 3.5" screen.

Re: Suitable Enclosures
My Portsdown is coming together nicely, I still have the USB, RJ45, band/ptt and power connectors to fit on the rear panel. The display needs attaching at the front when the bezel arrives but most of the wiring up is complete.
