Outgoing video on display

Hi all
Can anyone explain what's going on with my Portsdown?
I finished the modulator board yesterday and wired everything up
pleased to say everything was working great.
I then put it into test mode to set the pots on the modulator but now
when I go into transmit on the pattern setting it still display's the
touchscreens buttons and transmits the touchscreen buttons as a picture.
Before anyone asks yes I have enabled the display to show outgoing.

Hi Mike
There are some problems with the logic around "Test Mode". It's on my to-do list, but not sorted yet. Sorry.
Go back to the Console on a computer: log-in, ctrl-C and then type
Code: Select all
/home/pi/rpidatv/scripts/menu.sh menu
and then re-select the Source to be pattern mode (or CAMH264 if you have one), and then try selecting transmit. That should sort it.
Pleased to hear that it basically works!

Hi Dave
Well I did what you suggested but it was already in pattern mode, so I connected a camera to
the pi and selected H264 and transmit and after displaying the BATC logo for a couple of seconds up came
the picture from the camera. However going back to the pattern setting on the display still only displays
the touchscreen buttons. I wonder if the card has been corrupted as I am switching off by unpluging at the
moment.

Even though Pattern might be selected on the touchscreen, you need to go back to the Console Menu on a computer and reselect it to cure your problem. Once you are in the Console Menu, select Option 1, Source, and then in the next menu make sure that the * is against PATERNAUDIO and then press enter. In the next menu, navigate the folder structure to select imz-10.jpg as the file to display, and then press enter. As stated at the top of that Menu, the file that you require is located in the /home/pi/rpidatv/video folder.
The reason for this is that the Pattern mode works by transmitting the desktop, and then putting the test card on the desktop. If you do not have the test card file selected (and the only way to do this for initial set-up is by using the console menu), the transmitter will simply display whatever is on the desktop. In your case this is the buttons.
Hope that resolves your problem.

Ok Dave
No imz-10 jpg file in the folder which explains why pattern can't be displayed
looks like I will have to reformat the card and start over.
Thanks Mike

No need to rebuild the card. You are probably just in the wrong folder. What happens if you try selecting the top item in the list? You should be able to find the right folder.
