Display bezel - calling 3D printer users

The Hardware assembly guide https://wiki.batc.tv/Assembling_Portsdown is taking shape and we've realised it would be so much easier if we had a bezel assembly to mount the Touchscreen display.

We are not aware of one which is available from any suppliers - if you are, please post here - and wonder if anyone with 3D printer knowledge would like to design one and we'll put the files up on the wiki for everyone to use.

If there was sufficient demand, we could get some made and put in the shop.

I have been playing over the weekend and run into a few problems. First up I had issues with my ADF4351 board, it is good advice to avoid the green version on eBay, I am convinced the board I bought has a fake chip!

Then I managed to get another signal source up and running, but couldn't recieve my own signal even across the bench. I eventually tracked this down to the Pi itself having strong emissions right about where I was transmitting in the 23cm band!

So my advice on construction would be to split the display and modulator boards away form the pi and screen each section as well as possible. I will be putting mine in a diecast box and fitting screening cans around each module. If I can get one of those "things" printed (shouldn't be a problem, there are 3 people with 3d printers close to me) I will put one on the outside of the box and run a ribbon cable through a narrow slot to the LCD.

It certainly is of help and has clinched it for me.. I can now use the steel enclosure that I had otherwise tried (without success) to use for my mobile Analogue project..

Unless the BATC is planning on ordering a bulk print, I'll be looking into one after payday (yep still skint).

Has anyone printed this out and used it?
I've just printed this one out, and the screen fits. However it looks a bit offset to me. The aperture could be more over to the Right as the left hand side of the screen is exposed, and the right hand side is covered by about 5mm of the case. Of course it will depend on how much of the screen space is actually used. I have not got that far. If anyone has tried this design, I would like to know if you found the same thing?

I don't seem to have mastered uploading Photos to show you what I mean. The instructions and "Add Image" button didn't work for me! (Using Chrome Browser).

Hi Geoff

The displayed image is offset on the screen area, so when you power up your screen, your housing should look correct. There is a dead area on the right hand side of the screen that is not sensitive to touch and has no pixels displayed.

To display images here you can simply drag then into the window that you are typing in from Windows explorer.

What isn't seen is the packing piece to make the screen stay in place. Mine is shown in pine on the Portsdown builders group

It's a fiddly bit of work and you electronics types might not have all the chisels and planes!!!

It needs longer M2.5 screws to be bought as noted.

Both would make useful items in the shop that are tough to get.

Another option is to stick the display in with few dabs of hot melt glue. Mine has been in use since March and hasn't budged. Takes less than two minutes to fit; and not too difficult to remove if the need arises.
