What is the reduction in capabilities by using a Pi 2B rather than the 3?

Some modes do work, but I'm not sure what. It's certainly worth trying if you already have a Pi 2.
Please post your results here!

I have received the pre-programmed SD card from BATC and today received my Waveshare screen. Thought I would run it up on my spare PI2 and it appears to work, booting into the Touchscreen mode. However, although I can select the various options, if I choose Pattern, SR333, 437MHz and FEC 7/8, it goes into transmit OK. But, unlike using the PI camera, I cannot return to receive mode. Is this a PI2 problem or something else?

I would be surprised if the PI2 has enough power for receive, what receiver is connected? Does it get back to idle mode OK?

I have the RTL Dongle, but not connected at present, main RXs are MiniTioune. I thought someone mentioned running it on a B version with no problem. I have an RPI3 but its running my Digital Node at present so will try later.
If I use PI camera it goes from TX to RX no problem, its just when using test cards it hangs on TX, maybe a bug..

Andy - I take it that you mean that you are having trouble going back to "standby" not receive?

Yes Dave, sorry for the wrong terminology.

Recent testing has shown that an RPi 2 does give some results, but that some capabilities will not work. For example, the RPi 2 does not seem to be capable of handling analogue capture properly and puts streaks across the picture. The Pi Camera is less demanding and has been demonstrated to work with an RPi 2 in some circumstances.
The project team will not support the RPi 2 - please just buy an RPi 3.
