Dave just dropped by with Noel on their way back from somewhereorother. He has my camera now so hopefully will be able to get it working.

I have just posted a couple of minor bug fixes in Version 201802200. These are:

Save Configuration to USB now works, allowing transfer of configuration between Portsdowns.
The band switching logic now works at time of selection, rather than time of next transmission.
Support for the Logitech C920 webcam has been restored. More info: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/C920_Webcam
Attenuator spi clock has been slowed to increase reliability.

No need to update unless you want any of these features.

Hi Dave.

I've meant to mention this before but as it hasn't affected me (YET), I've noticed the "contest" numbers, callsign and locator reset with each software update. Is this just me or is it expected? When I go into Putty my entered details are still there and are transferred back to the Portsdown.

...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...

Dave

Thanks very much for pointing this out. The current transmit configuration was being copied across, but not all the information for the presets. I have just cured this in release 201802201.

I just wanted to check a couple of things. I have the transmitter working amd checked 2m, 70cms and 23cms, and can see my transmissions on my MiniTiouner. However, whilst I can monitor my transmited video on the LCD from the pi camera whilst transmitting, I can’t seem to monitor a composite video camera on the touchscreen. I can see composite video on the check video option, so EasyCap must be working.

Also LCD video seems jerky, transmitted video is ok though?

Hi Graham,
That's all as per norm as been documented several times in this thread and elsewhere, nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks Dave. I’m just setting up a quad video processor, which I had when I built a 23cms Analogue system about 10 years ago. I’ve also sourced a video titler which I can feed in via the processor. I must admit I’ve really enjoyed building this project and appreciate all the work by the team. I’ve just got to build the VFO filter, now my eyes have recovered from soldering SMDs to the RF Switch board! Next steps PA’s and preamps.

New Software Release

I've just issued a new release 201803061 - This uses the features of the "Portsdown 2018" Update to enable the selection of a number of new widescreen and HD video modes. The key added feature is that it is now possible to transmit 1080p HD H264 pictures with stereo sound from a Logitech C920 webcam. Details here: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Webcam_Support The update includes the following features:

Adds Webcam as a separate switched video and audio source
Logitech C920, C525 and C170 webcams work as video sources
Makes test cards and contest numbers available for both H264 and MPEG-2
Adds some 16:9 and 720p modes
Enables caption on some streaming modes and allows longer captions
Adds support for native 1080p H264 and audio streaming from the Logitech C920
SigGen supports the Elcom microwave oscillators (select ADF5355..)
New Logo
Keyboard improvements

Details of the available widescreen and HD modes are here: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Software_Capability_Matrix
