Null Packets, Pluto 4000 KSB F5OEO 0303 fw

Gidday all.

For those in the know what is the deal with null packets
Using Only OBS and a USB cable to Pluto (192.168.2.1)
1287MHZ at 4000 KSB 2/3 bitrate in OBS 3000 ~ 4000, 1920 x 1080

Using F5OEO Fw-0303, Pluto and direct stream via USB cable.

What can you advise about Null Packets.
The Good,
The Bad and The Otherwise.

Cheers

4MS! That is a huge bandwidth. Far beyond what we typically use these days so the headroom is not likely to be optimised. I wouldn't worry about it though as long as there are sufficient null packets, there is going to be more than enough bandwidth.

However, you may come across USB bandwidth limits soon.

Thanks Mike
Yes in this part of the world we have a little more room to move.

Pluto is doing the job OK, so far,

I gather its just a balance between Bit rates and Bandwidth available

Excuse Messy Constellations paper clip antenna, was able to keep a low NULpackets for a good hour
Next will be trying somethimng like a Zowie Box to stream to see it can hold and stream better via USB to Ethernet dongl in the pluto
But i have seen they are not much good with Bandwidth.

All input aprreciated

Cheers

That looks fine - the nulls are about right, try some fast moving video and check they don't drop to zero. The issue you may have is how fast you can send the transport stream to the pluto, with 1/2 rate FEC it should work I think, because the data rate to the pluto will be less than 4 Mb/s, but I doubt it would work at much higher rates. Cables will matter. You could always do 4 Ms at 1/4 rate FEC. Very robust and still plenty of video bandwidth.
