Can I use a Pluto Plus?

Post by G1INU » Mon Jun 03, 2024 3:02 pm

Hi Guy's,

I am active on QO-100 voice and now getting interested in DATV. I am still at the “read the wiki” stage with DATV though 😂.

I already use 2 Pluto Plus SDR’s as opposed to the Adelm Pluto because they have the built in Ethernet port which is required for my setups.

So my reason for this post is to ask if anyone is using the Pluto Plus for DATV with the Portsdown 4. Or does the firmware update required on the Pluto remove the Ethernet port support on a Pluto Plus like it does if you update the Pluto Plus with standard Adelm Pluto firmware?

Maybe yes, maybe not. Only the recommended hardware is supported. If you ski off-piste, you may be on your own should you fall.

However, all is not lost as the Pluto Plus will work for DATV without the Portsdown with the right firmware and applications. I would suggest asking outside the Portsdown thread for anyone who has a working setup. Note also there are several Pluto Plus variants. I don't know if DATV Easy, DATV Not so Easy or any of the others work with it. Gnuradio would certainly work but perhaps not for a beginner.
