Portsdown 4 Major Update
Re: Portsdown 4 Major Update
Hi Dave,
When in Ryde mode on the Portsdown 4 qo-100 quick tune works no problem, I can adjust the Volume with Toms android phone app Ryde Remote and other functions, but is there going to be an ir remote control option, or can the touchscreen be used to adjust volume etc.

Hi Brian
If you connect the IR sensor as if it was a Ryde (and identify the correct remote in config.yaml), IR control should work.
No touchscreen control.

It is not easily possible to load previous Portsdown versions. Even if you did do it (from the command line) you would not be able to roll back the system software package updates - and it is these that seem to cause most of the issues.
The last changes I made to anything affecting the receiver were on 25 March in update 202403250, so I'm really not sure what the issue is.
Have you tried a new build?
I do not have a PicoTuner to hand at the moment (I have loaned it out for a public DATV demonstration), but will recheck when I get it back.

Re: Portsdown 4 Major Update
Hi Dave,
Re. using PD4 in Ryde mode:
My PD4 is wired also to work as a Langstone and uses Pin 11 (GPIO 17), as the active low PTT with a pull up resistor to 3.3V.
Ryde uses Pin 11 as the IR sensor input The sensor is a Vishay TSOP2438 which has a positive output. Am I right in thinking this isn't going to work in its current configuration?

Re: Portsdown 4 Major Update
Hi Martin
Yes, there is a clash with the Langstone PTT. It is probably resolvable by changing one of the applications, but then might result in another conflict!
Perhaps Ryde AND Langstone is a bit of a stretch.

Re: Portsdown 4 Major Update
This may or may not help....I added the I2C extra I/O for the langstone, then diode-OR-ed the signal from that board into my PTT relay driver transistor.
Sorry no circuits recorded (built on the hoof from the Langstone wiki) and it sounds as if I did not actually need to (now). This was early days Langstone.
My second PD4 does not include this extension but the PTT works for both PD4 and LS. Might be solvable with some clamping diodes (?zeners) and some resistive dividers?
Worth some thought...'tis in vain to do with more that which can be done with less' - maybe a SPDT toggle could solve it?
Wonder what INVERTING the IR signal would do.......
Good luck..
Gareth

Re: Portsdown 4 Major Update
Thanks for the replies Dave and Gareth. I might give the inverting idea a whirl or maybe source an active low sensor. I'll also have a look and see if there's a gpo only active in PD4 or Langstone mode. Hmm

Hi Rod
We are having stock control issues with the online shop at present. The Portsdown 4 SD Card is actually in stock.
Please could you try and order it - I think that it should let you do so, even though it says "Out of Stock".
I will start preparing your card - please let me know if the shop won't let you checkout.

Re: Portsdown 4 Major Update
Hello Dave
Yes once you order it shows the stock (11)
Also the 7" Pi official touch display seems to be unavailable Pi Hut have none.
Is there an alternative or do you know of another supplier?
Tnx Rod G8DGR
