Portsdown 4 and Portsdown 2020 New Builds and Updates Now Working

Post by G8GKQ » Fri Dec 09, 2022 2:06 pm

A software update to VLC has caused problems with the Portsdown build. While we resolve it, please don't update your Portsdowns.

New builds will transmit, but not receive, so best to wait.

Re: Don't Update Portsdown at the Moment

A recent change to VLC meant that it did not work with Ryde or Portsdown any more. I have now made the required changes in the latest build (202212100) of Portsdown 4 to make it work again. The changes for Ryde were published yesterday, and I hope to fix Portsdown 2020 in the next couple of days.

So, it is now safe to new-build or upgrade Portsdown 4. If your Portsdown RX did not work after a new build or upgrade in the last few days, just do another update and it should come back to life.

If everything works for you, please DO NOT apply this update. The only additional functionality is some repeater TX resilience routines for GB3ZZ.

I have today updated Portsdown 2020 so that updates and new builds work properly. The new version is 202212110; you only need to upgrade if you have a problem with VLC in receive - there are no new features at all.
