Has anyone tried this as an alternative yet?

If I invested in one of those the last thing I would want to do is get fingerprints all over it.

I can see a use a a second display only screen and in that sense it is already supported, or nearly so, but 4k is wasted for DATV as even if 4K transmissions are sent, which the can be, I have done it via QO-100 though I needed to use 8PSK at 500ks, that screen is too small to appreciate them fully.

There is no point in using a 4K display on the Portsdown. All the buttons and captions are sized for the Waveshare 3.5 inch touchscreen, or the official Raspberry Pi Foundation 7 inch display. Nothing else is supported.

If you want to view 4K received pictures, use the Ryde receiver. This is designed to work with HDMI screens of any definition from 640x480 up to 4K.
