DATV Express card - corrurpt video when being driven by Portsdown.

Post by G8XZD-TV » Sat Nov 17, 2018 6:17 pm

Hi.

I've started getting a corrupted output from an express when driven by the Portsdown software.
RF wise it looks good on a spec an but the video looks corrupted, almost as if some of the digital video bits are missing.
I have tried it on two different Portsdowns and get the same effect.
The express card works fine when driven from Charles' software.

My initial thought was to re do the sd card - but to happen at the same time on separate (stretch) versions of the software?

Any ideas gratefully received.

73. Ian.

Hi Ian

Please could you provide more details: SR? FEC? H264/MPEG-2? Video Source? Portsdown software version? Video format?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Ian

I think that there are 2 separate issues here:

sr 4000, 1249MHz MPEG2, test card f 4:3 201811170 sound auto: I have known for some time that this was at the limits of the RPi capacity (4MS test card with DATV Express) and that it causes the TS to break up. I had thought that I had documented it on the Wiki, but apparently not. I have managed some "tuning" improvements to this in tests tonight, but will not get to implement these for a while because they affect other modes that will also need testing before I can publish the fix. Suggest you use the camera or the EasyCap instead.

sr 2000 437MHz h264 test card f 4:3 sound auto: Is this the "top part of the test card only" problem?

Hope that helps a bit. The MPEG-2 problem has been there for at least 6 months. The "top part of the test card only" problem was introduced when audio was added to H264.
