I have just updated to 20170306 software and according to screen information went successfully with no errors.
After setting up the various parameters in CLI mode, rebooting and it starts in Touchscreen mode no problem. If I then select transmit in Ugly mode it works well for about 30minutes then freezes. For example, if test pattern is running, the scrolling feature stops and I cannot revert to normal screen.
When I reboot and go into CLI mode again, everything is OK except the Display setting for Waveshare screen in my case has reverted to first option Tontec35. This is entirely repeatable and is the only parameter that changes from my other settings.
Running on PI3 with official 2.5A psu, have tried another PI3 with same result. I should also say if the PI3 is booted and left alone, it still freezes after about 30 min and without touching anything. I wonder if it is a heat problem, so will try some heat sinks on the ICs in the PI.
Cheers
Andy
Portsdown Freezes
Re: Portsdown Freezes
Hi Andy
Ugly (QPSKRF) mode is primarily a testing mode for Portsdown, not an operating mode. I would be concerned if freezes occur in IQ mode, but will not be spending any time fault-finding freezes in QPSKRF mode. Please let me know if you see any problems in IQ mode.
I will investigate the display setting reverting to TonTec, as this seems to be a common factor in a lot of software problems.
Thanks for the info

Re: Portsdown Freezes
Hi Dave
Yes, realise it is only a test mode, just had it running for a while and noticed this. I think it is to do with the screen reverting to the wrong type, you know this when you reboot it comes up with white screen, dive into setup/display and reset to WaveShare and all OK.
I shall be connecting all the modules together tomorrow before casing up so will soak test then but hopefully don't expect problem from your comments.
Cheers
