John G7JTT and myself will be operating a special event station from Poole Quay IO90AR on the 18th and 19th of this month in aid of the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI. we will be supporting the Poole radio society on behalf of the BATC as they don't have any ATV operators in PRS (yet).
Main operation will be via QO-100 but we will also have 70cm and 23cm DATV.
Looking for QSOs with a link to the work of the RNLI, many thanks to those who have offered assistance.
We will be using the special event callsign GB0PL for Poole Lifeboats.
Even if you don't have any link to the work of the lifeboats we would still like to work you.

On this Sunday, May 19, Wirral ARS will be operating GB2HLS from Hoylake Lifeboat Station, IO83JJ85, as part of the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and also for SOS Radio Week (which lasts a month). Hoylake will be well known to golfers. Operation will be on HF, VHF and QO-100 DATV.

This will be our first DATV operation for nearly five years, since moving to our new, much more modest HQ. DATV has changed quite a bit over that time and we are still well behind the curve playing catch up, so operation is unlikely to be very slick. If you yearn for the days of 4:3 576i H.264, you may be in luck, but we're working on it. We will probably be testing this week using the club call GX3NWR.

Not a fan of what the RNLI has become, but the work and technical prowess that this weekend's BATC efforts displayed was awesome.
I can only imagine the time and effort put into this behind the scenes. Well done all involved

If the Italians had done it there'd have been a bit of promenade totty, but... meh
