Solar Intereference to QO-100 Reception

Post by G8GKQ » Tue Oct 08, 2019 9:35 am

Just a reminder that the Sun traverses behind QO-100 at about 10:52 local every morning this week, so there will be some solar interference (rise in the noise level) for about 30 minutes each day. This will affect both the Goonhilly monitor and your own local reception.

You can calculate the exact time using this website: https://www.satellite-calculations.com/ ... erence.php

It's also a great time to see where is best to locate your dish in your garden (if you are lucky enough to have sunshine). Just position the dish where the sun illuminates at that time.
