Spectrian amplifier board connections

Post by gu6efb » Sun Aug 04, 2019 9:17 pm

Hi Group
I have a 13CM Spectrian amplifier board which I believe is about 60 watts output this is the board with the three LDMOS devices.
The one thing that I can’t find is the connection details. I have tried using Google lot of pictures but no real useful information that I have found.
Could some tell me the following info?
Power connections.
Bias connection and bias voltage and what to set the bias current too.
There is also a small 10 pin header again is there any useful information i.e. fwd /ref power or temp?
Any pointers or links to find the information would be most welcome.

I have a copy of the notes Pyro Joe sends out with the boards somewhere. If I can find it I will post it here.

Found it. I don't seem to be able to attach files to this post so I have copied it to my dropbox.

Hopefully you can find it here.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/xi461e7oa1rnl ... p.pdf?dl=1

I had a set of those but I am not in the same place they are at the moment - however I can post an image from your PDF

I recall removing the PA devices from many of these boards but there must be many still in people's storage. I only have one left, it is on a DB6NT blown heatsink just about able to handle the extreme inefficiency - I might as well see if it is any use for my QO-100 portable station.

Yes, they do produce a lot of heat especially if running at the full 26V supply. I found you can reduce that to about 19V without loosing much output, and it runs quite a bit cooler.
The mods described in a recent BATC News do increase the output at 2.4 GHz. I can get about 55W from mine running at 19V when it is cold. But that drops to about 45W when it warms up.

Many thanks to all who responded I now have the information required.

Look forward to working you all on many of the ATV bands we are slowly getting closer to being able to TX on many of the bands.
