250W Linear PA using Ampleon BLC2425M9LS250 mosfet
Re: 250W Linear PA using Ampleon BLC2425M9LS250 mosfet
Is anybody interested in building my BLC2425M9LS250 250 watt amplifier? See https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Transmitting_O ... Amplifiers
I have my first quote for PCB’s and will be able to send them to EU for about £40 GBP including postage. If anybody would like one then email me to go on the list thebigclunk@virginmedia.com
I need to have orders for 20 to break even as I make no profit. I have 8 orders so far since yesterday

I forgot the VAT so PCB price mentioned above is £45.30 + postage - I have orders for 20 sets now so I will order on monday to allow me to up the order quantity if necessary

Hello Jim
Am I in time to order a PCB please?
It looks a challenging build and worthy of a club workshop day in 2020.

Hi guys,
do you think an isolator is required or necessary for the output ?
Also please add my name to the list for a PCB.
Regards Tim

Hi Mike,
just had a bit of a set back - my MRF24300n has departed this world and I'm not entirely sure why.
I'm thinking it may have been a momentary over drive as it failed at power up - despite waiting for things to settle down before bringing the PA on line.
So back to square one for me !
Such is life !
For the MKII I think it's belts and braces in the shape of an isolator - despite the antenna being a resonable match or at least it was last time I checked.
Regards Tim

Looks like there's quite a bit of interest in this solution, so I have a couple of questions.
1. I wonder what users plan to use as a driver between exciter (say a Lime) and the PA ? Maybe one of those '8 watt' wifi amps running at 1.5 to 2 watts output would suffice ?
2. If the amp is being remotely mounted would there be any interest in a remote control / telemetry add on similar to the one I use ?
If so maybe it could be worth making a proper PCB for it ?
Regards Tim

I plan to remote mount so yes, I'd be interested. Its an interesting project anyway, remote monitoring of anything

Yes Tim I like that idea; also a good article for CQ TV.
Currently I switch my PA with a 433MHz key fob device, a hasty solution.
