G4WIM has reported good results using the Technomate TM1 LNB from Amazon at £7.99. I have ordered one to try. Technomate do not actually say PLL in their spec., but just say high frequency stability. However if it is producing a T9 morse tone on the nb transponder, it must be PLL.

Yes the TM1 is PLL with a 25MHz xtal ref as I can just about detect the 25MHz ref signal leaking out of the F type connector.

You say the LNB is mounted horizontal, but have you added the slight clockwise (looking at dish) skew needed? I know looking on the SDR I optimised for the WB transponder by adjusting to get the strongest beacon and noise floor.
Yes, I've tried adjusting skew and the forward / back position of the LNB in the mount - no change :(

I'm waiting for a new LNB and will also try a different, faster laptop. All that leaves is my MT, but that's been proven extensively on terrestrial signals.

What's frustrating is I can decode the beacon no problem, zero errors and MER 4.

I would be surprised if a DRO LNB had the phase noise performance necessary for 333ks, You really need PLL. No need to lock it for TV though.

Thanks, Mike. The new one I've ordered is PLL, so will report back once it's arrived.

Have tried listening to a narrow band signal ? Just had an issue with my set up and found the LNB to be at fault. When I looked at the CW beacon it was all over the place like the PLL couldn't lock. Changed LNB and all is ok now.

Not yet, John. I've got a bias tee on the way and then I will try that.

Ray, did you get any joy with the new LNB? I have the same trouble as you (great beacon pictures and nothing else) and with two different PLL LNB's. I know I'll crack it soon, but it's soooo frustrating.

Not had a chance to try it yet. Will post here when I do, but it may be a couple of weeks.

I had the same problem in the beginning.
The problem was my Offset frequency was not exact enough so I didn't receive the smaller signals.
Playing around with the Offset up and down on A smal signal til you get A lock may help.
