Evening all,
A new IRC channel has been created on freenode IRC called #es'hail-2 for chat and general interaction with others building ground stations. Try 'hexchat' IRC client for windows or 'andchat' for Android devices.
Look forward to seeing you there.
regards,
Paul M0EYT.
Es’hail-2 IRC channel
Re: Es’hail-2 IRC channel
Hi Paul,
Good to see lots of interest in Es'hail-2.
My concern with IRC channels is that it is very geeky (and thereby specialist) and is yet another thing for people to master when, I'm sure we would all agree, that it is better that they focus on playing with radio. Also, in my experience (and I may well be incorrect) there's no history / records of previous conversations unlike forums / email reflectors which have real value and save people asking the same questions twice.
In particular once the satellite is operational it's important that we have one ubiquitous chat and co-ordination channel that is easily accessible for everyone in the foot print
That's the reason AMSAT DL / BATC are setting up the spectrum monitor and chat channel which, by being a web page, is available across all devices and requires no additional knowledge / hassle to use.
We're more than happy to take on board any ideas to improve it or if someone else wants to write / contribute to the code, but it will only have real value it becomes the one place to go to for information on what's happening on the WB transponder.

I think it is quite nice to have somewhere with no history, especially when you are bouncing around half thought out ideas.
