I used a splitter and fed both my sat RX and minitiouner at the same time. I used my sat RX to steer my 1m dish to 26E and tune the available channels.
With the sat RX providing 18v and the 22kHz tone to the LNB I was then able to receive the same channels on the minitiouner The dish isn't that well aligned and I guess the splitter introduces some attenuation so I was only getting a MER of 4.
My plan was to connect the minitiouner directly to the LNB. I have an 18v supply for the minitiouner and I made the jumpers to give the LNB voltage output. I then switched off the sat RX and lost all reception of the channels!
Minitiouner has a selection for the 22kHz tone so I turned that on but it made no difference (maybe it doesn't work), this won't be an issue for the DATV transponder as that is a low frequency.
Also I noticed that there is a selection of 13 or 18v but in my minitioune sw it is greyed out. So is the only way to select it is by changing the supply voltage?
Anyone know what the response of an LNB will be at 10.495Ghz as its a bit lower than the lowest broadcast transponders of 10.700Ghz?

Hi Duncan
I thought it was just me that could not resolve BADR on my mini tioune.
I have been pulling my hair out trying to use the Minitioune to resolve the signal from BADR.

Finally I used a handheld Sat finder device and found BADR just where I thought it should be,
Back to the mini tiouner and I have a beautiful cross constellation.
I have full 100 % carrier lock but nothing else.

I am using v 0,8 and I too noticed that the LNB selection voltage is greyed out.
22khz does nothing.
Arthur forget call has received it I PMd him a few days ago but heard nothing so maybe he is away,
I did notice strangely that he had 11998 I think for the frequency??

There is no hardware to support voltage selection or 22kHz on the BATC V2 tuner. The French model only has that feature. It is not really intended to be used as a satellite TV receiver.

I looked at schematic a while back and realised that too Mike.
Also you have to increase the input voltage to Mini tiouner to switch it.

I PMd Arthur a while back for his settings to receive BADR.
strange that 2 of us cannot resolve it with our receivers?

I thought you were receiving it with your satellite meter?

Minitioune might be able to decode BBC World News on 11785 V but it is MPEG-4 and I would think rather weak given the beam is pointing at North Africa. https://www.lyngsat.com/Badr-4-5-6.html

It might be better to look for something on the BSS beam.

These may be actually the same beam, not sure but at least intended to cover the UK. Not a high EIRP compared to UK Sky at 28.2E and a small dish may have difficulty rejecting that.

I was receiving it on my meter, but I built the MiniTiouner and was hoping to use it.
Others are receiving it on their Mini Tiouners so do not understand why I could not.
Its no big deal
Need to make some fine tweaks next weekend to the dish then focus on up link.

There are two BBC channels at 26E, one on 11996 and another on 11785. Maybe only one can be decoded with the minitiouner?

As you seemed quite upset I thought I had better try myself. I had to start by installing a dish so it took a while but here you are:

Hope this helps with the settings. The problem might be lack of 22kHz or perhaps LNB is taking more current than expected and the Polyfuse is activating.

I am having to operate the tuner above 2 GHz as I don't have a 22kHz tone injection, this is 11996MHz. H/V is 19V but also easily fixed by rotating the LNB 90 degrees. I have not optimised this too well, the signals from 28.2 degrees are so strong it is hard to find BADIR, however, they are also a useful marker. Line up on that enormous signal and move 2 degrees to the West.

Thats Brilliant thanks Mike
Its too dark to go out and try it now but I will check it out tommorrow night with your Mini tioune settings .

Hi Mike

Thanks for the info,

I set up my Mini Tiouner as per your set up running the tuner from 12V.
I twisted the LNB and Eureka BADR.

The MER like you is also quite low.

I have an 80 cm dish and this is fitted with a 0,1 dB LNB.

I will try and fine tune this weekend but think its just about alligned now,
Elevation was very critical.

I hope this helps others in setting up their E s Hail Sat Receive systems.
Thanks again Mike
