Dish size vs power vs bandwidth

Post by zg3409 » Mon Aug 29, 2016 1:06 pm

I came across this info related to dish size, power vs signal bandwidth by M0DTS.

See here for an interesting table:

Rob M0DTS has prepared an easy-to-read table that shows the trade-offs between three variables:
* size of dish antenna
* RF bandwidth of your signal
* output RF Power you will require

Hi,

It is indeed specified to make 53dbW eirp power.
So that is 100W into 2.4m dish.

But is that cw signal? of modulated signal?

The 3 user channels are 1.8Mhz wide (=1500Ksym)

So what would be my PA power (measured in cw) like?
knowing that i can only use 1/4th of the power for dvb-s
