Input Drive Level?

On the image showing the DUT hooked into an analyser the drive level is shown as 0.5mW which is about -3dBm.

However the drive on V1 and V2 is -10dBm which is 0.1mW and the drive on V3 is +10dBm which is 10mW.

Was the original DUT being over driven or under driven I wonder.

The output of a FT818 is about 6W call it 38 dBm. (We all forget to switch the power down at some point!)

a 30dB attenuator will therefore be required to drive the v 3 unit .

I think my Maths is correct.

For a pi circuit
this gives values of 53 ohms and 800 ohms.

The 53 ohm input resistor would need to made up of several to get to this value and be able to sink the power of 6W.

I tried lowering the value to 50 ohms as these are easy to purchase at higher wattages but the return loss gets worse.

A quick google search however found some cheap ready made attenuators.
Roll on pay day :-)

Roll on launch date !???????

Picture above shows the inner one of the first prototypes, with more than allowed input Levels ( without Input attenuator and 0,5mW Signal ). Nevertheless clean output signal.

We have a head on our shoulders to think about that ;)

a 30dB attenuator will therefore be required to drive the v 3 unit for SSB-CWYES
For digital Television: attenuator value depends on TX output signal Level , there are two versions UPconverter available :)

TCXO at 2ppm, 10ppm normally? That means 20kHz to 100kHz error. OK for DATV but we are going to need a lot better stability for SSB/CW than 2ppm. Any way to develop an LNB for 10 GHz that takes a 10MHz reference input?

Even if I am lazy, I am working on this... ;)
