CQ-TV 282 is ready for download

The electronic copy of CQ-TV 282 is available for download for members on the BATC website at https://batc.org.uk/cq-tv/cq-tv-download/ . There's some really GOOD NEWS - BATC has managed to persuade Serit to produce another final buy of the FTS4334 NIM thereby guaranteeing the future of DATV for at least the next five years - more details inside!

Also inside is a report on the conclusion of WRC23 and the impact on 23cms, Dave G8GKQ has a first look at the Raspberry Pi 5 and the dates for the CAT24 rally are released.

The printed version of CQ-TV 282, in full colour on high-quality gloss paper, has gone to the printers and will be dispatched asap to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine. If you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription?

Don't forget the Thursday evening BATC net on Oscar-100 – more details on the forum. Please join us if you have transmit capability and if not you can watch all the action on the BATC streamer: https://batc.org.uk/live/oscar100net

We would really like more feedback on CQ-TV! Do you read it from cover to cover, are the articles relevant to you or do you just file it away and never read it? Either way, please let us know what you think by posting on the BATC forum!

BATC wishes all our members a happy and successful 2024!

In addition to the article on page 15 (Evaluation of the quality of transmitted and received analogue video signals) here some test patterns I used.
(Because they are .jpg I see already some grey between the white lines...).
Enjoy!

After publishing of the article in CQ-TV, I remembered I also have a cheap ‘HD Media Centre’ that uses an SD card or an USB stick. Easy to place the files (of the pictures in my previous post) on an USB stick.
I connected the player to the oscilloscope and found out the higher video frequencies are less attenuated, compared with the Canon photo camera.
As mentioned in the article, it is about the difference between two signals so not really relevant but herewith I share some of the pictures.

If you like to see more test patterns: https://slideplayer.com/slide/1596734/

Enjoy,
